A new investigation by Forbidden Stories and The Guardian reveals the identity and activities of “Team Jorge”, an Israeli contractor who admits having manipulated political elections worldwide, hacked and sabotaged several social media accounts, including politicians’ and high officials’ ones, and used automated content generators to spread misinformation.
Team Jorge used the tool “Advanced Impact Media Solutions” (AIMS), an AI that writes viral posts with a minimum keyword input and that manages social media accounts. For example, in 2021 AIMS avatars accused the UK Health Safety Agency of providing several false negative Covid test results to its patients.
Team Jorge is suspected of having interfered in the 2022 Kenyan presidential elections by hacking the accounts of William Ruto’s closest collaborators. He admitted to having completed “33 presidential-level campaigns, 27 of which were successful”.
This comes as no surprise for us Palestinians, who are used to being the guinea pig of Israeli military and tech businesses, such as weapons testing and cyber surveillance. We hope this investigation will shed light on Israeli warfare exports worldwide and that can be a wake up call to stop fuelling this militarized global system.
